The new data.ai State of Mobile 2022 report reveals that global internet users spend more time in apps than watching TV. The study noted that, on average, users spend approx. 4.8 hours per day on their mobile device,  which is 1/3 of daily working hours. In some markets, e.g., Brazil, Indonesia, and South Korea, users surpassed 5 hours per day in mobile apps in 2021. The most popular app categories include entertainment and social media, with TikTok as the most downloaded application. The network operators should be aware of this shift of the global network traffic to mobile-first. The knowledge about the most popular services allows tuning the application-aware optimization methods to better serve their specific QoS requirements. Furthermore, in early 2022, a new social app, Locket, unexpectedly topped AppStore charts. It allows putting live photos from friends in a widget on an iOS home screen. It represents a new traffic type and ensures that there are more to come.
